Our Story

Tucked deep in the center of Pennsylvania’s farmland, the Americana Region is a patchwork of crazy, cool country! A little slice of America that’s as American as baseball and apple pie, yet with a twist. You’ll find lots of antiques, craft brews and food right out of our traditional roots, living peacefully with world-recognized trails and jumps for an awesome mountain biking ride and heat of the moment drag races.

We have eclectic icons you won’t find anywhere else, like a Pagoda sitting atop Mt. Penn, a massive old factory turned art studios with over 30 resident fine artists and Daniel Boone’s home. You'll discover a mummy, Reading Railroad history, rare Tiffany glass items, a planetarium all rolled into one at the Reading Public Museum and an astounding collection of Old Masters paintings in our more than 30 museums. All the great farm to table dining in the area shares top billing with 79 farm markets and Pennsylvania dutch treats. Enjoy music from a 100-year-old symphony to a brand new country fest, an internationally recognized jazz festival and everything in between. Get even more festive at our Chile Pepper Festival or any of the other nearly 20 major festivals held here each year, or reminisce at World War II Weekend, the largest WWII re-enactment in the country.

Pennsylvania’s Americana Region boasts all of these things and more on scenic roads enveloped in gently rolling hills, bold city sites, or tucked into small towns throughout Berks County. You’ll feel right at home in all these places as the descendants of our first hardy pioneers and our newcomer residents make you feel welcome with authentic hospitality. Make our region your Destination of Choice, come back time and time again to enjoy something different in our crazy, cool country. Great stuff happens here!
