Weekend fun in Pennsylvania's Americana RegionAugust. How can summer be coming to an end when Memorial Day is still so fresh in my mind? If you're anything like me, you recognize it's time to go into outdoor overdrive before cooler weather and fall schedules put the kibosh to favorite summer pastimes. With that in mind, here's a list of Things to Do this Weekend in Pennsylvania's Americana Region that features seasonal fun.

August 4, 5, & 6
Reading Fightin Phils
Game times vary
Our favorite boys of summer, the Fightin Phils, are home this weekend. On game days, FirstEnergy Stadium buzzes with activity - fun themes, giveaways, music, mascots, and a dizzying array of concession foods and drinks. Did I mention the fireworks? This weekend, post game fireworks are scheduled for both Friday and Saturday nights. If you haven't been to a game this summer, head to FirstEnergy Stadium while you still can!

August 4
Bethany Children's Home Summer Concert Series
7 - 9 pm
Talk about relaxing. Start your weekend at a lawn concert featuring the sweet sounds of local talent, Stephanie Grace. Grab a blanket or chair and head to the grounds of Bethany Children's Home for this free event. You might want to bring an umbrella, the concert is held rain or shine.

Weekend Fun in Pennsylvania's Americana Region

August 5
Stoudts Bark and Beerfest
1 - 5 pm
If you love dogs and enjoy sampling good beer, then make Stoudts Bark and Beerfest part of your weekend plans. What a fun way to celebrate the "dog days of summer" with friends of the human and canine variety. Dogs need to be well behaved, leashed, and comfortable with crowds.

Establishment Day
Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site
10 am –  4 pm
Step back in time at idyllic Hopewell Furnace to experience daily life in the 1820s and ’30s. The historic building and surrounding land will come alive with weaving and spinning demonstrations, molding demonstrations, even cooking with cast iron Dutch ovens. Take your kids so they realize just how much easier life has become.

August 6
Flea Market
Leesport Farmers Market
7 am – 1 pm
Dealers and collectors from far and wide descend upon the Leesport Farmers Market for a “delightful day of dickering”.

And there are even more outdoor things to do like music at our wineries, boating at Blue Marsh, hiking our trails...
