Centre Park Historic District
Starting in the 1850s, Centre Avenue, in what is now Centre Park Historic District, became a fashionable address for the newly wealthy industrialists. Block after block of freestanding “country” mansions were connected to downtown by a trolley in the late 1880s. By 1910, the neighborhood was complete, with only the addition of churches and professionals buildings after that time.
Today, Centre Park Historic District is still a desirable place to live. Many of the mansions have been transformed into Bed and Breakfasts with elegant accommodations and the Queen Anne style homes that line the streets have been painted to show off their amazing architectural details. Stroll the neighborhood and take in its beauty or enjoy the community's annual Holiday House Tour and Garden Tour when visitors are invited to peak inside the historic homes and gardens.
