When I was a little, Labor Day was the one holiday I truly dreaded. It signified the end of my beloved summer vacation and the beginning of a long, long school year. Boy have times changed!  Today, not only do I welcome Labor Day, I can't wait to enjoy all of the incredible fall activities that follow its arrival iPennsylvania's Americana Region.

GoggleWorks September Spotlight Night  - Begin your Labor Day weekend at the GoggleWorks September Spotlight Night. Preview the new exhibitions opening in the GoggleWorks' galleries, visit the teaching studios, and see live demos in a variety of craft techniques. As always, admission and parking are free; complimentary light fare, beer, wine, coffee, and desserts included. Enjoy!

 

Celebrate Labor Day in PAs Americana Region

Duryea Day - Held in beautiful Boyertown Community Park on Saturday, September 2nd, Duryea Day is a well-established event that attracts hundreds of cars, trucks, and motorcycles from all decades. All years and models welcome. Live music, food, and children’s entertainment make this a family-friendly and affordable event. Awards handed out in several categories. Duryea Day is organized and run by the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles and the Pottstown Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

Doodlebug Train Rides - This Labor Day weekend, take a Doodlebug Train Ride on Allentown & Auburn Railroad’s historic Pennsy Doodlebug through the scenic Kutztown countryside September 2, 3, & 4. A Doodlebug is a self-propelled passenger car. Similar to a regular passenger car, but more compartmentalized. The engine is enclosed at one end of the car and is separated from the passenger seating by a baggage compartment. Today, there are only about a dozen Bugs left in existence. Tickets: Ages 12+ - $12,  65+ -$10,  3-11 - $6, and 2 & under - $.01

Blues in the Barn at Pinnacle Ridge Winery - Pinnacle Ridge Winery's biggest party of the season falls this Labor Day weekend! On September 2 & 3, relax to Blues in the Barn at Pinnacle Ridge and enjoy great wine (beer & mixed drinks, too), music, food, and atmosphere. A winning musical lineup might have you attending both days.

A Taste of Hamburg-er Festival - Celebrate America's favorite food at a Taste of Hamburg-er Festival.  Held in Hamburg, PA - of course, on September 2nd, the festival is always held the Saturday before Labor Day. This year over 30 burger stands compete for the coveted best burger award. The family friendly festival has five stages of non-stop entertainment, two beer gardens serving beer, wine & cocktails, arts and craft vendors, and children’s activities! You won't want to miss the amateur and professional burger eating competitions!  Bring your buns to Hamburg….You’ll relish the experience!
