After a long winter, the Reading Liederkranz is thrilled to celebrate the opening of the historic biergarten for the spring and summer seasons! Enjoy music all evening long from The Alex Meixner Band, acclaimed for their rousing polka tunes and German music. With live music, delicious German fare, and plenty of beer to go around, the Biergarten celebration promises a night filled with gemütlichkeit! It's an event not to be missed!

Annual Benefit Auction - May 4th 

Nicholas Stoltzfus Homestead invites the public to attend the Annual Benefit Auction that supports the historic home. Featuring Amish foods, hand-made quilts, vintage books, garden supplies, crafts, and homestead items. Tour the 1700s historic house, enjoy the vendors, grounds, and more. Bring something, buy something, and meet family and friends.

Taco Fest

Taco Fest - May 4th 

Get your taste buds ready for an epic celebration of flavor at Downtown Reading's Taco Fest! Located on the 500 & 600 Blocks of Penn Street, enjoy a day packed with delicious food, live music, and engaging activities for all ages. Free parking will be available from 11 am to 7 pm at the South of Penn garage located at 635 Franklin Street and 5th and Cherry Surface Lot, thanks to the Reading Parking Authority.

Children's Day - May 5th 

Come and experience colonial life with interactive learning and exploration at Daniel Boone Homestead! Experience a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on activities and demonstrations for children and their families. Children will have the opportunity to learn more about Daniel Boone’s exciting childhood in the Oley Valley and participate in various eighteenth-century, hands-on activities such as textile processing, candle dipping, quill pen writing, butter making, and more!

Wildflower Walk Gring's Mill

Wildflower Walk - May 5th 

Walk the trails on the Union Canal Trail with staff member Kathy Grim to discover Spring ephemeral wildflowers throughout the park. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water. Meet at Gring's Mill Recreational Area.

Kutztown Radio Meet - May 10th 

Sponsored by the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club, browse more than 200 booths of antique radios, parts, audio, ham, and related items under two large pavilions at Renninger's Antique & Farmer's Market. Meet experts who fix and restore antique radios. Non-computer show. Friday night auction.

Sheep Shearing Day Hopewell Furnace

Sheep Shearing Day - May 11th 

Hopewell Furnace invites you to attend its annual sheep shearing day. Event is held rain or shine. Charcoal Making Demonstration from 11 AM - 12 PM.  

Visitors will have the opportunity to observe both 21st and 19th century techniques for shearing sheep. Along with these demonstrations, park staff and volunteers will be present to discuss and demonstrate fiber arts. Stop by the Kid's Table to play historic games, attend story time, and participate in craft activities.
