Autism Friendly Train

Excursions depart at 11:00 am & 3:30 pm
Take an Autism Friendly Train ride along the beautiful and scenic Colebrookdale line! This ride is for individuals on the Autism Spectrum and their families, so come enjoy an excursion on this beautifully restored train. Riders are encouraged to arrive early, 10 AM or 2:30 PM, to allow time to become familiar with the train yard and the surrounding buildings, trains, and the uniformed staff and volunteers who will be helping you during your ride. Because of dietary concerns, you are encourage you to bring your own snacks. There will be la carte menu items available. Ticket prices range from $6 - $36.

The Fisherman and His Wife

Follow the charming fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm about a sweet and simple fisherman who catches an enchanted fish. Upon learning the fish is magical, the fisherman releases him back to the water. When the fisherman tells his wife of his amazing day, she insists her husband return to the sea and ask the fish for a wish. The fish grants the wife her wish, however, she gets greedy and demands the fisherman ask for more and more wishes from the fish. What happens? Mark your calendars so you don't forget. Starting on April 10, Berks County Parks and Recreation will offer History Storytimes the 2nd Wednesday of every month. This special storytime is for preschool children and is intended to help them explore the rich history of our area. This month's storytime is at Wertz’s Red Covered Bridge. Children will learn a litte about the bridge and the bats that live there. The story “Stellaluna” will be read.

Easter events offer lots of things to do with kids in spring, like Easter on the Farm. Join in the celebration of PA Dutch Easter traditions at the annual event. This popular day features PA Dutch spring culinary treats, folk artists, farm life demonstrations, and activities for the children! Be sure to be on time for the egg hunts for children ages 0-10.
