As you may expect in an area where history goes back as far as ours does, there would be lots of historic sites to learn the story. There are - major locations like the Daniel Boone Homestead and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. Yet, Pennsylvania's Americana region is also dotted with more than a dozen local historic societies telling their own unique part of our region's story. As you drive around, you'll also discover nearly 30 farms that are designated historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places, where homes and barns have been carefully preserved and passed down through the generations. Such a large collection of these farms is completely unique to our region, where agriculture has always been a mainstay of life.
