What do kites, fiddles, and beer have in common?  All three play a starring role in an event this weekend in Berks County. For those who love flying kites, can't resist tapping their feet to the lively sounds of the fiddle, or relish sampling new foods and craft beers, Pennsylvania’s Americana Region is the place to be this final weekend of April. While visiting our region, you'll find plenty of other ways to spend your time. The extravaganza draws hundreds of sellers and buyers from all over to sell, buy, and trade antiques, collectibles, vintage, and repurposed items. It’s because the trio’s vocal and instrumental performances are authentic all-Americana, all the time, respectful of the artists that inspired them.

Since its inception in 2008 at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the all-American quartet has been awarded prizes at nearly every major competition in the US and across the globe. This dynamic quartet includes Wyomissing native Rachel Kitagawa Shapiro on violin, and our audience will meet their new violist Caitlin Lynch at this concert. Their program will feature works by Haydn, Ives, and Beethoven.

Go Fly A Kite Day Festival & YMCA's Healthy Kids DayFly a Kite

Go fly a kite - literally! Spend your afternoon flying kites at Go Fly A Kite Day. The event aims to get you and your kids outside. Bring a store-bought kite, or kids can make one in the Sled-Kite Workshop Tent. If you need some help getting off the ground, watch professionals fly kites and perform tricks. Here's a great way to spend your Saturday.  Stroll Penn Ave in West Reading while listening to live music and sampling beers and tasting unique dishes made with pretzels. The Festival is free to attend, but food and beer are not.
