Dog lovers welcome!
Dog Friendly night at FirstEnergy Stadium
If you love dogs, you probably like taking your pooch everywhere you go, especially in good weather! Chances are your dog wants to go with you too. No need to leave your pal behind in Pennsylvania's Americana Region. There are plenty of dog-friendly places and events for you and your dog to enjoy together. Here are a few of our favorite dog-friendly things to do in Berks County.

Events:

Dog wearing a Bark for Life purple bandanaCanine Carnival, Bark for Life and Disc Dog Competition
Saturday, May 20th, 10 am - 2 pm
Jim Dietrich Park

Bark For Life™ is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society. The fun-filled day starts with a dog walk and continues with vendors, demonstrations, contests, games, and music. The Mid-Atlantic Disc Dogs – Keystone State River Jam Disc Dog Competition will take place both Saturday and Sunday from 8 am – 4 pm. All dogs attending the event should be well behaved and on a 6-foot leash. If you can't make the Canine Carnival Jim Dietrich Park has a dog park, open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Fourth Annual Dogs & Brews

Saturday, May 28, 12 – 4 pm
Reading Public Museum

This annual event combines two of our favorite things – dogs and beer! Bring your furry loved ones to mingle with other pets while you sample local craft brews, and nosh on good eats from food trucks while visiting the booths of crafters, local pet shops, groomers, and treat-makers. The best part is that you’ll be helping other animals because a portion of the funds raised will benefit the Animal Rescue League of Berks County. But you’d better reserve your tickets and tasting glass now before they sell out.

And there's more!Women walking with black dog at dog-friendly Blue Marsh

Shop to your heart's content with your dog by your side at Godfrey's Welcome to Dogdom. While Fido snoops and sniffs, peruse an extraordinary array of pet supplies sold at the store. Throughout the year, Godfrey's offers training, informational seminars, and seasonal events. They also organize playgroups for dogs to join.

For the outdoorsy pooch - are there any dogs that don't like the outdoors, hike the trails at local state parks, French Creek and Nolde Forest. Nolde Forest organizes monthly guided dog walks. Dogs are also welcome at Blue Marsh Lake and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. When visiting any of these recreation areas, pet parents are asked to control, attend, and leash their dog at all times. Of course, proper cleanup and disposal of their waste is expected too.
