Oktoberfest at Reading Liederkranz is an event that you definitely don't want to miss! It's a yearly event that has been celebrated for many years, and it's one of the most anticipated events of the year. There's a reason why people keep coming back every year - the food and music is simply amazing! The event offers a wide variety of German food and drink, from delicious sausages and pretzels to refreshing German beer. The smells and flavors of the food alone are enough to make your mouth water. You can also enjoy the company of fellow German culture enthusiasts while you eat and drink.

The live music and entertainment at Oktoberfest is equally impressive. You can dance to traditional German music or enjoy performances from local bands. The entertainment is designed to make you feel like you're in Germany, enjoying the festivities and culture of the country. Don't miss out on this festive celebration of German culture and tradition. Hop on the Colebrookdale Railroad for a fun themed ride! Departing from Boyertown for a 1-hour excursion, join them for the best foliage in Pennsylvania! Spectacular autumn colors and the rich fragrances of fall in the Secret Valley delight the senses. Everyone gets a donut and cider while enjoying the bliss of the Secret Valley. Donuts are provided by Frecon Farms.

10th Annual ReadingFilmFest: October 11-13

 

The festival showcases the best of emerging talent from around the globe.  Films from independent filmmakers including student films, shorts, documentaries, and feature films. Panel discussions follow many of the films and film blocks.

This year’s slate of films are a joyful celebration of everything we love about the big screen. Join us for an unforgettable journey through an incredible range of themes that highlight love, Sports, Environment,  Animation, Sci-Fi, Musicals, Comedy, LGBTQ+ stories, Latin X, and more. We have something for everyone! 

 

Haunted Hollow

 

Family Fun Fest & Haunted Hollow: October 11-13

Muhlenberg Township's Family Fun Fest is a one-day event on Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. They will offer various family-oriented fall activities with the help of various community groups. Activities will include pumpkin painting by the Jr. Women’s Club, apple launching, carnival games, scarecrow-making, and much more. This is the only time that a traditional (non-scary) hayride will be offered over the weekend. This event is free to families.

HAUNTED HOLLOW AND BARN
Friday, October 11 through Sunday October 13, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

The Parks Department partners with Rotten Concepts to make the park come alive after dark. The Haunted Hayride will travel through the woods and along the river, but be careful, you never know who is lurking in the woods. The Haunted Barn will test your fright level as you walk through the various passageways. Be prepared for the fright of your life. We will have food vendors available during the event.

Road Ramble

 

Fall 2024 Road Ramble: October 19th 

Get ready to buckle up for the ultimate historical joyride with the Road Ramble, the Berks History Center's epic annual event! Cruise through Southern Berks County and discover hidden historical gems in towns like Birdsboro, Mohnton, and Shillington. This year's route promises a blend of historic charm, scenic beauty, local legends, and important landmarks. Round up the whole gang for a road trip through time!

Tickets for the 2024 Road Ramble are on sale NOW. Cost: $35/car for BHC members and $45/car for non-members.

 

West Reading Pumpkin Palooza

 

West Reading Pumpkin Palooza: October 19 & 20th  

Join us for the West Reading Pumpkin Palooza.

Businesses up and down Penn Avenue in West Reading will be decorating, carving, and painting pumpkins for the West Reading Pumpkin Palooza. 

Bring the family down to see the displays and watch the artists work at creating their designs for the contest. Pumpkins will be completed by 4pm and then judging will begin at 4:30pm.

Heritage Day Fall Fest: October 20th 

Daniel Boone Homestead 

The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to celebrate the arrival of fall with the Homestead’s annual Heritage Day event. This living history program features a variety of eighteenth-century demonstrations, trades, and hands-on activities. These include gunsmithing, open hearth cooking, spinning and wool dyeing, candle dipping, leatherworking, and more. The event will also feature craft and specialty food vendors as well as fall activities for children like pumpkin painting.

Admission: Adults $10.00, Seniors (65+) $8.00, Youth (6-17) $5.00.  Children 5 and under and DBHA members are free.

 

Trick or Treat Reading Public Museum

 

Trick or Treat at the Museum: October 26th 

Reading Public Museum 

Join Museum Educators and other community partners as they celebrate the Halloween season with a safe trick-or-treating event at The Museum. Children will receive Halloween and fall-themed crafts to take home, in addition to coupons and snacks provided by our sponsors, as they travel to the various treat stations throughout our galleries. Families will also have an opportunity to meet Buddy the Dinosaur from PBS Kids' Dinosaur Train at this event! This event is free with museum admission.
