In the Pennsylvania German community of Pennsylvania’s Americana Region, the name Stolfzfus is everywhere. More than 1,000 people carry that surname. The Nicholas Stoltzfus House was the home of the man who started it all, emigrating from Germany to Pennsylvania in 1766 and settling on the Tuplehockien Creek in 1771, building the first house on the creek. Once shuttered and ready for demolition, the property is being lovingly restored by the descendants of Stolfzfus. With the house stablized and restored, the foundations of the original barn have been cleared to receive an authentic reproduction structure.
