The weekend is fast approaching. If you’re anything like me, you’re looking for things to do, with and without kids. There are plenty of things to do in Pennsylvania’s Americana Region. Some events are just for kids, some are family-friendly, and some activities render themselves perfect for kids of all ages. This list of Fun Activities for You & Your Kids offers suggestions that are worth checking out. Here’s why…
Parent Night Out, Kids at Camp is definitely a fun activity for you and your kids, but not together. South Mountain YMCA is hosting a Kids at Camp Night for children ages 6-12. SMYMCA will entertain your kids with classic camp activities from 6-9pm. What will you do with the free time? Whatever you like, after all, it’s your night out. $15 per child. Contact Amanda for information and registration at 610-670-2267.
Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan at Albright College’s Center for the Arts offers swashbuckling entertainment. Multiple performances throughout the weekend allow you to pick a convenient time to enjoy the classic production about Frederic, an apprentice to a band of pirates. Frederic disavows the pirates’ way of life for love. But of course, things are never this simple and soon mayhem ensues.
Kids are sure to enjoy Percy the Victorious Vulture Children’s Workshop at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, April 29 at 10:00 AM. The true story “Percy the Victorious Vulture,” will be read by its Illustrator and Hawk Mountain’s former artist intern, Lauren Beauchner. Percy faced real life dilemmas and how he conquered them right here in the Kempton Valley. Kids will discover the importance of vultures while participating in fun activities and games.
The ever-popular Go Fly A Kite Day & YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day Festival is Saturday, April 29th from 12-5pm at Berks County Youth Recreation Facility. This fantastic day combines healthy activities and information with kite-flying fun! Bring a homemade or store-bought kite, or kids can make one in the FREE Sled Kite Workshop.
